Yes of course yoga does help to reduce the fat belly and will surely help you to get in great shape. But you would also need to take care of what you eat and drink. You can’t expect yoga to work on your body if you are not following a healthy lifestyle or if you are not regular with your yoga practice. To get in great shape you must eat a well balanced diet that is free from excess oil, spice and salt. Avoid consuming the highly refined and processed junk foods as they are loaded with sugar and unhealthy fats that will only add to your problem and will not help you to get in good shape. Also avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, especially beer as it gives you a big belly look.
To get your entire body in a great shape the best thing you can do is to join a regular yoga class and learn everything right from the basics. This will help you to stay fit for life and of course in great shape as well. Besides the other members in the class will keep you motivated to practice regularly. So find a regular yoga class close to where you live with a well-qualified instructor who will make sure you learn correctly. You will have to learn the Dhyana or meditation first that will help you to focus and concentrate well. It will also relieve your stress, which is one of the reasons for people to overeat and put on weight. Dhyana or meditation also helps to prepare you for the next step that is Pranayama or the breathing exercises. These will increase your lung capacity and will also clear any blockages that are present in your body. Thus it will help the body to provide fresh supply of oxygen and blood to different organs.
Pranayama or the breathing exercises also correct your breathing pattern so the effect of the yoga asanas or postures is optimized. Yoga asanas or poses are practiced in a slow systematic manner. Each asana or pose is held for a specific duration and that helps to tone the internal organs as well as your muscles. It also increases your muscular endurance and boosts blood circulation and clears the excess fats from your body. Kapalbhati or the breath of fire and the twists and bends are extremely beneficial to tone and shape your belly.
