If you want an impressive physique with lots of well defined muscles, weight training is a must. That said, yoga can be a very beneficial adjunct to weight training.Let's take a look at some of the ways in which yoga can benefit your weight training program with or without weights.

Yoga For Biceps

  • Working with heavy weights can reduce the body's natural flexibility. Practicing yoga along with your weight training program will ensure that your body retains it natural flexibility
  • High intensity exercises should never be attempted without doing warm up exercises before and cool down exercises after your workout. Yoga can help you in both these aspects as it helps to prepare the body for any exercise (warming up) and also helps the body to relax and the heart rate to return back to normal (cooling down) after strenuous exercise
  • The Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutation), a series of 12 flowing postures, is one of the best warm up exercises. It ensures that the entire body is warmed up and ready to handle heavy weights. Yoga poses such as the Shava Asana (Corpse Pose) are excellent exercises for cooling down
  • Working out with heavy weights can lead to some soreness in the muscles due to the buildup of lactic acid. When you practice yoga in tandem with weigh training, you will never feel this soreness because yoga helps in draining out the lactic acid from areas where it becomes concentrated
  • Yoga can help to improve your mental focus. As any experienced bodybuilder already knows, the mind is the most important weapon when it comes to building an impressive physique. Practicing yoga will enable you to fully concentrate on your weight training routine so that you can reap maximum benefits in the shortest amount of time
  • Yoga also helps to bolster your body's natural immunity. When you exercise with heavy weights, your body experiences a slight drop in immunity immediately after the workout and during this period your body is more susceptible to infection. Incorporating yoga into your workout routine helps to ensure that your body's immunity levels do not drop

As you can see, incorporating yoga into your workout routine can provide you with a number of important benefits. Although yoga by itself will not make your biceps bigger, when combined with weight training, it will ensure that you get the biggest possible biceps in the shortest.
