Yoga for bodybuilding
The practice of Yoga includes several stretching exercises, which are especially beneficial for those muscle groups that are not very responsive to regular weight training and body building exercise. Normally, muscles tend to shut down, in response to a stretched tendon. Yoga for bodybuilding is not only an excellent way of increasing body strength, it also increases the ability of the muscle to work more efficiently. Yoga for bodybuilding also stretches the muscles in the stomach, so that the workout position can be more powerful. This ensures that you can burn off the extra fat on the belly and can stabilize your weight naturally. Given below are some yoga postures that can help men to increase their strength, flexibility and balance and therefore, they usually are a part of a yoga for bodybuilding routine:

• Adho Mukha Savasana (The Downward Facing Dog Pose)
• Bidalasana (The Cat Pose)
• Chandrasana (The Elevated Crescent Pose)
• Garudasana (The Eagle Pose)
• Utkatasasana (The Fierce Warrior Pose)
• Virbhadrasana I (The Warrior Pose I)
• Virbhadrasana II (The Warrior Pose II)
• Setu Bandhasana (The Bridge Pose)
• Marjariasana (The Balancing Cat Pose)
• Purvottasana (The Table Pose)

The yoga muscle building exercises mentioned above help men in strengthening the muscles in different parts of the body, like the back, the lower body or the upper body. In fact, some of the Yoga for bodybuilding poses can include the use of props and other types of equipment, for added benefit. Some of these poses can also be included as a part of a yoga and weight lifting routine for men, because they help make the arms stronger and allow the muscles in the arm to recover faster.

Meditation for bodybuilding
Several men, who are into body building, wonder if they can improve their workout routines by adding meditation to it. While meditation may not have a direct influence on bodybuilding, it may be able to help to some extent, as meditation is known to improve concentration. So, adding meditation to bodybuilding workouts for about 10 minutes before a workout routine is believed to improve focus and motivation, while working out. Apart from mediation other forms of relaxation can also help, as relaxed muscles respond in a better manner, to a workout routine.

The use of yoga for men’s health offers several benefits that are quite well known, but it is important to undergo a physical exam and consult a doctor, before practicing any form of yoga.

Body builders, who practice Yoga regularly, find that the benefits surpass the effects of simple muscle stretching. Yoga helps by balancing mental, emotional, and physical energy, thus enhancing concentration and endurance. Most body builders see results within a few weeks and most serious students notice breakthroughs almost immediately.

For optimum benefits, do lots of Surya Namaskar and a few asanas in all positions Standing, Sitting, Supine, Prone and Inverted; but take one position at a time, daily.
