Introduction to Prenatal Yoga is all about Pregnancy Yoga.

It’s all about the whys and hows of Yoga during pregnancy, the benefits and drawbacks. Well, drawbacks there are none, save for a few precautions you will get to read in the subsequent pages.

During pregnancy, the would-be-mom wants to remain ship-shape and do what is best for her baby-to-come.

Pregnancy Yoga is an excellent way to achieve both.

Whether you are a beginner or already an old hand with Yoga, you get to enjoy the benefits while pregnant. Pregnancy Yoga classes are a wonderful way to get yourself ready for the child-bearing process besides enjoying the company of other women in the same happy state. A lot of toddler’s playgroups have emerged from the attachments developed in Pregnancy Yoga classes.

Guidelines – Trimester-by-trimester

If you’re not already aware, a pregnancy is divided into trimesters. Each one lasts three months. Accordingly, the adaptations to your yoga practice will increase as your belly bulges. In Pregnancy Yoga you learn to make use of these guidelines for each trimester:

  • First Trimester
  • Second Trimester
  • Third Trimester

Beginners to Yoga

When looking for a class, go to those labeled “Pregnancy Yoga.” These teachers are best trained and experienced to instruct you. If, by chance you end up in another class, make sure to inform the tutor about your pregnancy right away. Some women who work throughout their pregnancies only have time to take up prenatal yoga in the third trimester.

Experienced Yoga practitioners

Yoga practitioners will be delighted to know they can keep up their Yoga practices all through pregnancy. As your baby continues to grow in your womb, you may have to make slight adaptations to your regular practices. For the rest, you can continue with your regular classes, so long as you feel comfortable.  Then again make sure to check out the Trimester Guidelines in class, to know what asanas to avoid.

It’s also a good idea to take consult your medical practitioner, particularly your gynecologist before enrolling.
