Power Yoga Weight Loss

Although it has been repeatedly touted that Yoga can help a person lose weight, there are several people who believe that Yoga is not a very effective form of weight loss, at least when compared to Cardio exercises. However, Power Yoga is one particular style of Yoga that not only has numerous spiritual benefits, but can also help you work out your entire body. Power yoga for weight loss is also believed to be more effective than several other forms of exercises. This is because Power Yoga weight loss workouts exercise 100% of the body, whereas activities like swimming and running only exercise about 10% to 15% of the body. By practicing power yoga fitness exercises, you can easily burn up to 360 calories in an hour.

Power yoga health reports state that this form of yoga is the most effective in weight loss, if each session lasts for a minimum of 90 minutes. However, using power yoga for weight loss can be quite strenuous and therefore, it is important for you to ensure that you do not push yourself too hard. Doing so increases the risk of an injury, which could hamper your chances of exercising and losing weight. Therefore, you need to set a right pace, which is challenging and motivating, without pushing your body, beyond its limits. It may be best to focus on a few asanas (poses) that you are the most comfortable with. The various Dog Poses are believed to be very effective in toning up the thighs and the hips.

Bikram yoga for weight loss

Bikram Yoga refers to a style of yoga, where a series of 26 asanas are practiced one after the other, for a period of around 90 minutes, in a room that has been preheated to a temperature of 105 degrees F. This style of Yoga makes the body perspire a lot, which helps in burning away fat. Bikram Yoga health reports state that this Yoga style includes a complete fat burning, aerobic, cardiovascular, flexibility and strengthening work out.

Some people lose hope soon after they begin practicing Bikram Yoga, because they believe that they do not see the results they expected. However, it takes your body a few classes just to get used to the various poses and it usually takes at least 10 classes, before your body can start losing weight. Nevertheless, with the right amount of patience and perseverance, Bikram yoga can help you lose weight and develop strength through muscle toning, as your body performs the various postures.

Apart from Power Yoga and Bikram Yoga, there are other styles of Yoga that can also be effective in losing weight. Vinyasa Yoga, Astanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga weight loss techniques are believed to be very effective too. However, it is best to consult a doctor, before practicing any form of Yoga.
