Every person, especially women desire to possess a shining complexion. Generally, we tend to go for superficial remedies to have this glow shine on our body. The results are temporary and sometimes may also hamper our complexion in the long run.

A standard rule for shining complexion that is to be always remembered - no matter what time you return home in the evening, the skin must be thoroughly cleansed. Pollution is the major factor destroying our complexion today. Apart from this, cleansing ensures that any make-up if applied is removed so that the skin pores can breathe and relax.

Diet plays an essential role in our skin condition. A healthy balanced diet rich in protein, carbohydrates, fats, essential fatty acids and all the essential vitamins and minerals works wonders for the skin. Avoid junk foods, carbonated drinks, chocolates and high fat foods. Concentrate more on cottage cheese, whole meal breads, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, fresh juices and plenty of water. Every person must consume 8-10 glasses of water since it helps to flush out all the toxins in the body. Eat seasonal fruits like papaya, strawberry, banana or pineapple. The secret to a healthy diet is to eat fresh food, fruits and vegetables and not diet to eat less.

Ensure that your motions are regular. Constipation or trapped toxins show the effects, warning signals on the body by way of pimples or acne. Hence, a clear stomach is very important to have a shining complexion.

As a regular practice and precaution, start your day by drinking 2-3 glasses of warm water or put few drops of lemon in it. Eat a heavy breakfast which may comprise of milk, egg, whole wheat breads, cheese, oats and some fruit. Breakfast is the key meal of the day since it builds the energy levels for day’s activity. Hence, do not compromise on your breakfast and eat junk food especially at this time of the day. Lunch should incorporate some amount of carbohydrates in terms of rice, potatoes; proteins like pulses, soy, fibers, vitamins through green leafy vegetables accompanied by some seasonal fruit. It is better if dinner is not an elaborate affair. Usually, we tend to have heavy dinners since that is the time the whole family comes together but the body is unable to digest heavy food in the night due to low metabolism. So, keep the dinner as light as possible by having more of salads and fruits. Also, the earlier you have dinner, the better it is.

Avoiding alcohol and smoking enhances the progress and maintenance of good complexion to a great extent. A healthy diet is not about saying ‘NO’ to anything, it is about eating everything in the right amount. Do not say ‘No’ to the healthy food simply because you don’t like it and at the same time eat your favourite dish in the right quantity.

Yoga, pranayam and meditation bring an everlasting effect on the outer as well as inner body. With a healthy diet, also practice yoga and pranayam by taking instructions from a genuine yoga teacher. Yoga brings discipline in one’s life and through pranayam the body learns to do controlled breathing. This helps a person to also control one’s diet and eat the right foods thereby reducing the temptations to eat junk food which ultimately prove harmful to our body.
