High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a very common condition faced all over the world and can be quite serious if not cared for properly. Some of the many factors that play a part in the development of high blood pressure include anger, anxiety and stress. During these instances, the heart is required to perform a higher workload for as long as the emotion is in play. This increase in blood pressure at these instances is normal, however, when the blood pressure remains high on a consistent basis, the individual is said to be suffering from high blood pressure.

There are a number of yoga for blood pressure control asanas that you can incorporate into your regular routine. The ever popular Pranayama is considered to be one of the most effective natural remedies to lower blood pressure as well as reduce level of cortisol in the body. Cortisol is the hormone that causes stress. The Pranayama is a simple breathing exercise that also helps alleviate any mental stress that an individual may be experiencing. The Pranayama also improves the stability of the mind as well as the functioning of the nervous system – allowing the individual to be more aware. There are also a number of meditation techniques that are known to be very effective natural remedies to lower blood pressure. The Omkar meditation, the Prana meditation and Omkar chanting are all highly regarded in this respect.  The Yoga Nidra, considered to be a psychic sleep, helps remove emotional, mental and physical strains from rather easily and effectively. Moreover, this form of yoga is also known to help focus the mind and remove any negative elements from having an influence on your mindset. Given that this form of yoga can be easily practiced for ½ an hour on a daily basis, it should be  easy to fit into your regular schedule.

How To Control Blood Pressure With Meditation

Meditation has been recommended world wide by lots of medical practitioners as a way to help a person control and also lower their blood pressure. Meditation has largely been found to be beneficial in lowering a person’s stress levels and anxiety levels. Stress is largely thought to be one of the main causes of hypertension. There are various studies that have linked to the success of meditation in controlling a person’s stress levels and thereby reducing their blood pressure. Meditation for blood pressure mainly focuses on a state or being of concentrated awareness. The main aim of meditation is to direct the person’s attention towards their own minds. In this state of Meditation a person’s mind will tend to have a feeling of being free from all thoughts or a feeling of having dissolved. High blood pressure has been found to be a silent killer and can also affect a person’s heart, eyesight or kidneys. Besides Meditation there do exist other ways to reduce blood pressure which include taking medications and therapy.

However if one is doing Meditation regularly they are also advised to simultaneously make some changes in their lifestyles. These include eating a healthy and balance diet and getting adequate amounts of sleep and rest. Other forms of exercise like walking or swimming are also encouraged. One should try starting of with a Meditation session of at least 15 minutes. Meditation has no side effects and hence can be practiced very safely by people of all age groups. Usually Meditation targets the spirit, mind and body. Meditation can be used to create a peaceful level of being and consciousness where a person will try to get in touch with their inner most thought and inner most self. Meditation should ideally be practiced in a peaceful and quiet environment.
