Aromatherapy Bath With Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is one the oldest forms of natural therapy and was practiced way back in 1000 BC in India, Egypt, and China.

The name aromatherapy was coined in the twentieth century by a French chemist. It involves the use of distilled plant volatiles known as essential oils. These oils are the distilled essence of plants with complex hydrocarbons from flowers, leaves, grass, roots, barks, seeds, and fruit rind.

What is an Aromatherapy bath

It is a warm, relaxing bath using essential oils and aromatherapy bath salts in your bath. Aromatherapy bath and body products are also used for an overall effect. Not only does it relieve your physical problems but also mental and emotional ones.

A few drops of essential oil added to your bath tub does wonders. Your skin is pampered with oils and the aroma that rises is absorbed by the olfactory system and lungs.

What does it do?
The effects of aromatherapy are subtle and refreshing. You can add two drops of lavender, cedar wood, or bergamot for a calming and relaxing effect.  You can try six drops of geranium or four drops of basil for keeping nervousness at bay. If you are unable to sleep, add four drops of chamomile or two drops of lavender, neroli, or marjoram to your bath to give you a good night’s rest. The other essential oils you can try are rosemary, lemon, and frankincense to energize you.

Tea tree oil bath.
A native of Australia, tea tree is a shrub with needle like leaves similar to cypress.  It has natural antifungal, antiviral and anti- infection properties. Add three to five drops of tea tree oil to your bath to relieve you of skin infections, blisters, boils, fungal diseases, and mild inflammation. It also alleviates health problems like insomnia, gout, chicken pox coughs, asthma, and arthritis.

Aromatherapy Mineral Bath.
These aromatherapy mineral bath salts are a unique blend of ocean and desert salts scented with essential oils. These salts get rid your dead skin cells and soothe your senses.  Aromatherapy bath salts products contain sodium borate (borax), sea salt, sodium bicarbonate, and essential oils of lavender, balsam fir needle, patchouli, palmarosa, geranium, and roman chamomile.

Aromatherapy bath salts have therapeutic properties and help to ease sore muscles and joints. Add some to your bath tub with hot water and get in for a long soak. It prevents inflammation and pain associated with arthritis. The salts improve blood circulation and give relief for back and leg pain. It is excellent for exfoliating the skin. You can even make your own bath salts with a mixture of Epsom salts or sea salts or both with baking soda, food coloring, one or two teaspoons of glycerin per jar and with essential oils of mandarin orange, lavender, sandalwood, or patchouli.
