Stress and anxiety are today the major causes of anger and depression. Though there are several ways to manage anger and depression, often we do not stop to realize the effects that stress has on our body.

n this fast paced world, it is absolutely imperative to have ways to deal with everyday stress and anxiety.

Here are the top 10 ways to manage stress:

  1. One of the best ways stress reduction can be achieved is through elimination of the sources of stress from your life. While it is not always possible to remove all sources of stress, you can start by eliminating them one by one. For instance, if you feel that driving to work is a stressful activity that you undertake every day, take a bus or a train instead of driving.
  2. A lot of people feel stressed because they are not able to divide and allocate their time effectively amongst their tasks. Allotting time judiciously between tasks can help you manage your time better and therefore work in a more efficient manner.
  3. If you predict that a future situation or event is going to be stressful, try to avoid it. A social situation which causes undue pressure or stress should also be similarly avoided.
  4. Once in a while, it is important to give yourself a break. If possible slip away from the daily grind once every week. The break, even if it is for an hour or two, can help you cope up with the events of the entire week. During this break, perform activities that you enjoy.
  5. Competition, when in moderation, can be a great way to realize your ambition. However, undue competitiveness can cause a lot of uncalled for stress. In this materialistic world, it is common for people to compete in terms of accomplishments and possessions. Staying away from such feelings can help remove a great source of stress in your life.
  6. Crowding yourself with material possessions has a way of back firing. You may think that you need certain things, but taking care of those material possessions often adds undue stress to your daily life.
  7. It is great to be able to give attention to multiple tasks at one time. However, it is best to devote your energies to only one thing at a time.
  8. It is important to give yourself an occasional break, where you do absolutely nothing, giving your body time to repair and rejuvenate itself.
  9. One of the best ways stress reduction can be approached is to expend your pent up anxiety in physical activities. Certain physical activities like Yoga and Kickboxing can help you relax and bring stress levels down.
  10. If you still feel stressed out and do not know how to manage stress, seek professional help and see a therapist. This will help you get a third party perspective.
