Health Yoga Pilates

Given just one choice to keep yourself physically and mentally fit, what would you choose practise: Yoga or Pilates? No one can refute the multifarious benefits accruing to both.

Then again, a lot of folks are wondering – and asking – which of the two is better. That is, from the point of views of achieving physical and mental health.

Let’s begin by talking about Yoga.

Predominantly a product of India, Yoga lays emphasis on the generating and chanelizing energy throughout the body. The philosophy is that, only when the energy inside our bodies is able to move more freely is our physical health improving.

Then again, stress, tension, anxiety, and a host of other such negative emotions present obstacles to the free movement of energy; and this is where Yoga comes in. through the practice of Yoga we are able to maintain the flexibility of our body.

This includes a series of movements and postures, and stretching techniques. Through these Yoga techniques, we are able to prevent our bodies from getting rigid. This, consequently, makes it easier for energy to flow throughout our bodies.

The physical exercises and postures that Yoga teaches also serve another purpose. That is, to enhance the quality of our mental health. This doesn’t go to mean that it automatically suddenly makes a sane person out of a lunatic. On the contrary, these physical exercises and postures promise to help people achieve better mental balance and composure.

Next come Pilates. This is an idea that was conceived in the Western culture, or more specifically, the mind of one. Joseph Pilates. These exercises were developed as a result of his desire to enhance the rehabilitation program for casualties of the First World War. He then went on to inventing a variety of machines that could help injured soldiers regain use of their physical abilities through stretching, strengthening, and stabilizing their key muscles.

Pilates exercises assume quite a few forms. For example Pilates stretching exercises, are preferred by dancers thanks to their notable use in helping them bee them more in tune with their bodies. Through Pilates exercises, dancers are better able to understand their bodies and move gracefully. On the other hand, the use of machines in Pilates exercises, is pretty much the same as weight training.
