Sivananda Yoga - Teacher Training Course

Swami Vishnu-Devananda was the first Yogi / Sanyasin to come up with the idea of a training program for yoga teachers in the Western world. He did this, primarily, with the vision to develop Yoga professionals.

Besides, he also wished to impart to genuine and earnest aspirants the skills of personal discipline. Another goal, of course was to create more and more messengers of peace in this strife torn world of ours.

Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course is a deeply moving, thought provoking experience. It is based on the ancient Gurukul training system; this insists on integrating the teachings of Yoga into the aspirant’s daily life. At the end of the rigorous and exhaustive 4-week Training program, the participant will have a solid foundation to impart the principles and practices to others. Besides he / she very much strengthens his or her own Yoga skills with self-discipline and body / mind awareness and its link to the Spirit.

On graduating from the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Course, participants are awarded a certificate of qualification.

The Yoga Teacher Training program has been responsible for generating over 11,000 students over the past 3 decades. People, from all walks of life, from all over the world, throng the precincts of the Sivananda ashrama and worldwide centers to participate in the training. All training is imparted in English with concurrent translation into European languages, besides Hebrew, Japanese, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.

Personally delegated to the West by his Guru Swami Sivananda with the sole directive of propagating the teachings of Yoga and Vedanta, in 1957 Swami Vishnu-Devananda established the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta chain of Centers. Today, they cater to over 30 centers and ashrams all over the world
