Is it ok to workout a day before CT scan?

A CT (computerized tomography) scan is a powerful imaging tool used to diagnose a number of medical conditions. Just like an x-ray machine, a CT scan sends multiple x-ray beams from various angles and provides a detailed image of the body. A trained doctor or specialist then interprets these images.

If you are scheduled for a CT scan, there are certain precautions you must take in order to ensure the best possible results. It is advisable that you do not eat or drink at least 4 to 6 hours before the scan. You will also need to inform your doctor and the technician if you are allergic to any medications, have had an allergic reaction to any substance in the past, or if you suffer from any kidney problems or diabetes. This is to avoid any side effects from the usage of any contrast dye during the scan.

When it comes to exercise of any form before a CT scan – it is best avoided. Any type of physical activity may trigger a false result on your scan by indicating a changed muscular state. If you have exercised a day before or just before your scan, you should inform the technician of the same. In such circumstances it may be advisable to postpone the scan to a later date.
