High blood pressure is caused by a number of factors, including (but not limited to) stress and anxiety.  These are the factors that contribute to high blood pressure which yoga can help with.  The basis of yoga is meditation and relaxation.  Incorporating these fundamentals into your yoga routine should help reduce blood pressure.  Try practicing the more relaxing yoga styles, such as Hatha and Kundalini.  These styles are less aggressive than Ashtanga and Power Yoga and incorporate a period of meditation after completing a series of prescribed asanas.  Make sure you go through each asana with purpose and breathe in and out fully with each pose.  When you have completed the asanas, lie down on your mat and begin your meditation (or if you are doing Kundalini yoga, remain sitting on your mat in pray pose).  Clear your mind and remain focused on letting your body be rid of all negative energy.  Your breathing will return to normal and you will feel your body go heavy and relaxed.

Also, following a yogic lifestyle should help to reduce your blood pressure.  A yogic lifestyle includes daily meditation and prayer as well as a strict diet of vegetarianism.  Reducing stress in your life through yoga is an excellent way to reduce your blood pressure.
