  • The Chair Pose: Squat in a way that your feet, thighs and knees are touching, while your arms are extended
  • The Twisting Chair Pose: Hold the chair pose, press your palms together and rotate your body, from left to right.
  • The Twisting Lunge: Maintain the chair twist and place your left foot behind. Make sure that your knee is in a straight line with your ankle.
  • The Warrior III Pose: Balance your entire body on your left foot. Folding forward, lift your right leg, with your arms extended
  • The Arrow Lunge: Keep your palms joined and extend them over your head, in front of your body, placing your right leg behind in a lunge
  • Extended Leg Balance: Swing your right leg forward and hold it in front of you.

Yoga has been practiced since ancient times by gurus, yogis and lay people. There are a variety of reasons why yoga is practiced. Some of these include improving one’s health and well being. People also do the yoga poses to help in improving their flexibility levels. Yoga is additionally found to be useful in attaining peace and calmness in mind and body. Some people do the yoga poses for weight loss benefits. There are different kinds of yoga like Bikram yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Hatha yoga and so on which can also be practiced with the intention of losing weight.

Some of the useful yoga poses that help in loosening up the muscles, increasing flexibility and toning the body includes the Surya Namaskar or the Sun Salutation.
