Ashtanga Yoga Asanas

Asana is the method for purifying and strengthening the body in Ashtanga Yoga. Here, asanas are grouped into six series. However, all levels have to be fully developed before you move to the next. Besides, the sequential order of asanas has to be scrupulously adhered to. All poses are preparations for the next. Each one develops the strength and balance required to proceed. So devoid of sincere effort and reverence to the practice of Yama and Niyama (observances and restraints), the practice of asana will be of scant benefit.

The Ashtanga Yoga Asanas Series are as follows:

Surya Namaskar A (Sun Salutation) – from Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Practice. This is the first step in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Practice consists of Surya Namaskar A. it is a series of 10 simple, easy-to-do steps.

Surya Namaskar B - from Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Practice. This, again is one of the most beautiful parts of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Practice. This, however, comprises 10 dynamic poses, as against the above 10.
