Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a kind of massage that concentrates on realigning deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. There are usually adhesions in tense or injured muscles. These cause pain and inflammation. This type of massage breaks down the adhesions. This is done by applying deep pressure across the grain of the muscles. Some of the strokes used are the same as in classic massage therapy but the pressure is deeper and concentrated on the painful areas. Therapists may use knuckles, hands, elbows, fingertips and forearms during the massage. Such a massage is beneficial for sore shoulders, stiff necks, and low back tightness, osteoarthritis pain, postural problems, carpal tunnel syndrome and for fibromyalgia pain. It is corrective and therapeutic. Do check with your doctor before undergoing such a massage.

Swedish Massage

A Swedish massage is one of the best known and commonly offered massages. Five types of long flowing strokes are used during the massage: effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. The pressure used during the massage ranges from light to firm and is based on an individual's choice.

The main aim of the massage is to increase circulation and to release toxins from the muscles. It also affects the muscles, nerves and glands, reduces physical and emotional stress, joint stiffness and aids in the recovery of osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of time. The massage leaves one relaxed and invigorated.

Thai Yoga Therapy

Thai yoga therapy is a combination of acupressure, gentle twisting, deep stretching and meditation and rhythmic massage. It has its' roots in Ayurveda and Hatha yoga. It is traditionally known as'nuad boran' and works on vital energy or'prana'. The method specifically works on pathways ('sen' lines) on which vital energy flows. Muscle and connective tissue are stretched deeply which result in relaxation and physical and emotional relief. Benefits also include greater flexibility, toning of the internal organs, joints being loosened or opened and improved metabolism and immunity. Regular and repeated sessions will lead to relief from back pain, better resistance to injury, a release of toxins and lactic acid and respite from chronic stress related conditions like fatigue, headaches and insomnia.

Thai Yoga Massage Certification And Schools

Thai yoga massage therapy boosts the immune system, improves circulation and relieves muscular tension. Several institutes provide training and subsequently Thai yoga massage certification once the program is over. Thai yoga massage schools also do the same.
