Basic Yoga

Choose a teacher that suits you

Select a Yoga teacher with experience and a certification. Moreover, ensure that your instructor really cares about your physical limits and does not look to push you more than you can go at first. Your Yoga teacher may adapt and alter the pace. He / she may even show you options of poses to suit your requirements specifically.

Develop your own Yoga style

Decide to go in for a much gentler form of yoga like, for instance, Kripalu Yoga, Viniyoga. Or also consider Integral Yoga. There are styles of yoga, which may be too dynamic for beginners and stiff people, such as Bikram, Ashtanga and Power Yoga.

Loosening up before starting

Ensure at least 10 – 15 minutes of warming up. Attempt simple, effortless, trouble-free movements to increase circulation, lubricate your joins and prepare your body to stretch. Proceed from simple to tougher poses. This way, you will feel far more comfortable, particularly, if you can take these extra minutes before beginning, if you rush to your Yoga session it could turn out to be very harmful.

Pass up some poses.

Asanas such as Halasana, Sarvangasana, Sirshasana and Padmasana should be avoided, as these should only be attempted by experts. These asanas can place a lot of strain on your joints and discs. In time, this could lead to very serious lesions.

Look after your back well

When bending forward from any standing position try keeping your knees, a little bent and pivot from your hips. For arching backwards, focus on opening the front of the body. Do this by stretching from your navel to your sternum. Take care never to over-arch the lower back. This will only pack together your lumbar discs a lot

Use comfortable clothes

Comfortable clothes that breathe and let you breathe are extremely recommended for Yoga. You probably ought to wear a shirt slightly form-fitting, as in many asanas your head goes under your hips and your shirt could slide down. Exercise pants or shorts will do, too, even though best don’t have super slick Lycra-type pants. In some poses this may cause you to slip.
