Acidity is that condition where there is excess acid being produced in the stomach of an individual. If there is a weak valve between a person’s food pipe and stomach, then it can aggravate a condition of acidity. Eating heavy meals or damage to a person’s stomach lining can all be causes of acidity. People who are highly emotional or highly nervous are more likely to suffer from an acidity problem. There are many poses in yoga that you could use to treat the causes of acidity. Yoga in itself will help to relax and calm the mind and body. It also helps to improve blood circulation to and from all the organs in the human body. Yoga is a mix of breathing techniques, meditation and flexibility poses.

Some of the main postures in yoga that are beneficial for treating a case of acidity include the Hero pose. For this pose you need to kneel with your seat placed in between their legs. Keep your hands placed on the knees. This hero pose is found to help in improving one’s digestion process and should ideally be done post the completion of their meals. The downward facing Hero’s pose is also beneficial and should be done for about 40 to 60 seconds. The Cobbler position will also help in soothing the mind and simultaneously help in lowering your blood pressure. The Crocodile pose will help to massage the abdominal area and thus help in reducing stress. The Anuloma Viloma should also be practiced regularly. The Corpse position is another useful pose to help in relaxing the mind and body. You need to lie down on the floor and relax every part of your body from the tips of your toes to the top of the head. This also helps induce relaxed sleep and proper digestion.

Grains that are low in fat are good for digestion and therefore, reduce acidity. Make it is point to add multi-grain, rice, whole wheat, corn and oatmeal to your diet. When it comes to milk and other dairy products, opt for the low fat or skim varieties. If you do have a preference for meat, make sure that you choose lean sources of meat like skinless chicken or turkey.
