Kapalbhati is a type of Pranayama, or breathing exercise that is an excellent and one of the best forms of yogasanas for improving a host of health problems in addition to keeping the individual fit. A daily session of Kapalbhati for a maximum of 15 minutes ensures long term health which must be coupled along with a controlled and healthy diet. Kapalbhati is also believed to control and cure thyroid related diseases, diabetes, disorders of the stomach and abdomen, problems related to obesity, asthma, wheezing, lung disorders, pancreatic and liver conditions and also greatly improves the functionalities of the respiratory system.

However those with hypertension or heart related issues must refrain from doing this exercise till the time the doctor gives a go-ahead to perform it. Please consult your doctor if you happen to suffer from any ailment. Moreover women who are pregnant or menstruating must avoid Kapalbhati during the tenure. As you are practicing Kapalbhati, if you begin to feel dizzy or nauseous, immediately discontinue the practice. It is always best to consult a medical practitioner before beginning on any form of exercise to rule out side effects of any illness or disorder you may be carrying.
