However, no matter what their circumstances or upbringing, all these people have a common love and appreciation for Yoga. Above all, they are grateful for how it has enriched their lives.

For literally thousands of years Yoga was a way of life for people in India; people who were seeking a connection between themselves and spirit.

But even though it originated in India, Yoga has now migrated to the West and has spread throughout the world. In the 1960's several a number of Yogis, like B.K.S. Iyengar, Swami Santayana, Swami Vishnu-Devananda and Swami Satchitananda, at the behest of their masters, took the practice and knowledge of Yoga to the West. Ever since, there has been a big change from conventional to the more "western friendly" Yoga styles. That does not, in any way, mean that traditional Yoga and its lifestyle are not to be found and practiced in the West; they are probably not as visible as more mainstream versions.

For those who are curious as to what Yoga is all about and how Yoga can change their lives, they are bound to get answers at the Balance Healing Arts Center Yoga, Fairbanks, Alaska. For long time practitioners who wish to make contact with others who share the same passion for Yoga, this is a good place to begin. For newcomers to Yoga who’d like to continue and advance their practices, the Balance Healing Arts Center Yoga also provides the time and space for individual growth.
