Yoga is an ancient 5000 year-old discipline that started in India. The word yoga in Sanskrit means 'to unite', and is said to connote the union of the body and mind. Thus, this discipline is said to be beneficial for the well-being of both the body and mind. Core power yoga is a popular type of American power yoga. Thus, like any power yoga exercise, corepower yoga combines physical exercise with spirituality. This type of yoga is the Western version of the Indian Ashtanga Yoga. Unlike Ashtanga, core power yoga does not follow a set series of poses. Thus, each class can vary from the next widely depending on the level of intensity. A well-known class of core power yoga is the Santa Monica power yoga. This type of yoga is directed at creating the highest levels of energy and vitality for both the body and mind. Another famous class for core power yoga is the Verge power yoga. This class focuses on rhythmic movements to invigorate your body and mind.

Core power yoga bolsters flexibility, stamina and strength due to the physical workouts. However, you should also take care of your breathing as this will improve your ability to focus and concentrate. Core power yoga also stimulates various body systems like the endocrine system responsible for hormones, the nervous system, circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems to improve their functioning. It is also extremely useful as a warm-up exercise.

A typical variant of the core power yoga is the core power vinyasa yoga. This type of yoga focuses on synchronised movements, while emphasizing breathing techniques. Thus, it uses a progressive series of co-ordinated body movements and breath control.

Another type of power yoga similar to core power yoga is Baptiste power yoga. Baptiste power yoga is also vigorous in nature, but is taught in a studio with the heat turned up. The heat is not only useful in stimulating different body parts, but also reduces the chances of injury by warming up the body. Working out in a hot room also encourages metabolic activity that helps tone your body. It also promotes the flushing out of toxins keeping your body healthy.

The best part about power yoga is that once you learn the moves, you can practice them at home and evolve your natural experience with yoga. However, make sure you do not over exert yourself to avoid risk of injury as this a pretty intense type of yoga.
