Anxiety Disorder Symptoms

An anxiety disorder is one in which fears and worries stop you from living your life the way you would like to. Anxiety disorder symptoms are:-

  • Being constantly on edge, worried or tense
  • Bothered by unfounded fears
  • Excessive anxiety attacks
  • Panic in daily situations
  • Feeling like danger is always lurking around
  • You anticipate the worst
  • Being apprehensive, irritable or jumpy

Bipolar Disorder Symptoms

Bipolar disorder causes major changes in one’s energy, moods, behavior and thinking. Mania and depression are the two sides of it. Bipolar disorder symptoms are:

  • Mania signs: irritability, rapid speech, poor judgment, insomnia, delusions and hallucinations,  reckless acts, poor temper control, increased activity
  • Depression signs: excessive worry/guilt, crying, major changes in weight or appetite, energy loss, sleep pattern changes, feeling worthless social withdrawal, suicidal thoughts.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Ptsd

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) usually develops after a traumatic event where one felt threatened or helpless. PTSD can occur after an accident, human or natural disasters, war, physical or sexual abuse or rape.

Post traumatic stress disorder treatment generally lasts for 6- 12 weeks or longer if the case warrants it. Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Therapy are used. Medication is another option. Yoga is also an alternative.

Depression differs from normal sadness in that it affects your daily life and work. Depression symptoms are:-

  • A loss of interest in daily activities
  • Insomnia or hypersomnia
  • Feeling helpless or hopeless - no self worth
  • Changes in appetite or weight
  • Restlessness or irritability
  • Sudden increase in aches and pains
  • Fatigue or loss of energy

A disorder which is the result of a traumatic event in which a person was threatened or witnessed actual serious injury is called acute stress disorder.
