BKS Iyengar yoga or Iyengar yoga is a form of yoga that was started by Belur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar. This type of yoga practice uses asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation to help the body achieve a total balance. B.K.S. Iyengar was born in the early 20th century and learned the art of Hatha yoga when he was a child. He suffered with various illnesses when small and used this practice of yoga to heal himself. He then began to teach others his variations on Hatha yoga and thus Iyengar yoga came about. Iyengar yoga stresses on the correct posture and various props like chairs, straps or blocks are used to bring this about.

Sarvangasana


Sarvangasana or the Shoulder Stand has many benefits for one’s health. This is an inverted pose in yoga and helps to tone and stretch the body as it works against the force of gravity. This pose is known as the Queen of yoga poses. Benefits include stimulating the thyroid gland, strengthening the lungs, helpful to people who have swelling in the legs or feet, prevents varicose veins, alleviating constipation, improving digestion, calming the mind and helping it focus, alleviating headaches and congestion as well. Keep in mind that this pose does not suit everybody so do check with your medical practitioner before practicing it.

Gastric Symptoms


Adults can suffer from a host of gastric symptoms. Two common symptoms are abdominal pain and indigestion. The former, which is the most common one, could be an aching, gnawing or burning pain. It can occur between the naval and breastbone and sometimes travel to the back too. Indigestion would mean a burning sensation in the chest. This can lead to belching or burping frequently. Other symptoms include fatigue, headaches, dizziness, pale skin and light headedness. If you suffer from any of the above gastric symptoms and are looking for a cure, try drinking lots of water throughout the day. Another cure is to mix a little baking soda in a glass of water and drink it.

Yoga for Thyroid


Yoga is excellent for those people who suffer with a thyroid disease and seek treatment for it. Regular practice of yoga for this disease will help to improve their overall health as well. Yoga helps to stimulate the thyroid gland and thus helps to balance one’s metabolism. The best post for a thyroid problem is the Sarvangasana or Shoulder Stand. This targets the thyroid directly and since it is an inverted pose, it pushes oxygen rich blood into the neck. This reinforces the thyroid.  Another beneficial pose is the Sirasana or the Headstand.

Yoga for Weight Gain


Yoga is well known for its beneficial effects on excess weight in the body. However there are also a few yoga postures which help one to put on weight as well. Yoga can help with weight gain treatment as the poses help to build up stamina and increase the appetite in the person performing it. An increased appetite makes a person hungrier and this he/she tends to eat will, which leads to weight gain. Yoga helps a person to gain weight proportionately and there is no abnormal weight gain either. One such yoga pose which helps a person gain weight is Shavasana (Dead Body Pose) as this pose involves lying on the ground and easy breathing. This posture helps to rejuvenate the body as well.

Yoga for Beauty


Yoga is well known for its benefits on one’s health and beauty as well. Yoga helps to reduce excess weight, reduces stress and it is a well known fact that if you feel good inside, you will look good on the outside. Yoga brings about a state of relaxation and physical fitness as well. Yoga helps to remove toxins that are present in the body. This makes you feel younger and look younger too. The regular practice of yoga helps to improve one’s blood circulation and this helps to make the skin smooth and glowing. Yoga to Increase Breast Size


Many women opt for surgery to increase the size of their breasts. However, even yoga has some postures which can help to increase breast size. One such exercise is Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) which helps to strengthen the chest muscles. Two others are Sahaj Stabdhasana and Stabdhasana. Practicing these poses regularly would help to improve the size of one’s breasts as yoga helps in overall physical improvement of one’s body.

Yoga to Gain Weight


While yoga is mainly practiced to lose weight, some people also turn to this practice to help them gain weight. Doing certain yoga poses helps one to increase one’s appetite. However, apart from this, yoga also helps the body to easily absorb whatever it eats. This is turn results in the digestive system performing better. Practicing Matsyasana or the Fish Pose helps to tone one’s belly. The weigh one gains is distributed throughout the body and there is no unhealthy fat found in any part of the body. Along with practicing yoga to gain weight, one must also follow a good diet. Keep in mind that yoga does not directly help one to put on weight. It helps to increase the appetite. So if one eats healthy food and does yoga, it will definitely help one to put on weight.

Yoga is beneficial for weight gain as it improves one’s stamina, increases one’s appetite (and therefore hunger and the urge to eat). Weight gain exercises in yoga are most beneficial as they also prevent the weight from being deposited in an ungainly manner and therefore one looks good too.

There are several yoga exercises one can perform for weight gain. These include Sarvangasana (or Shoulder Stand) and Shavasana (or Corpse Pose). The latter entails lying in a supine position and breathing easily. This yoga posture is the easiest to perform. Yoga postures for weight gain help one to increase one’s stamina and increases the appetite as well. Consult a professional yoga trainer for the best exercises to gain weight. Along with doing these yoga exercises, do eat a good diet, but not one with too many fatty foods.

Yoga is renowned for reduction in the weight of the individuals but at the same time certain steps of yoga and a few asanas are highly beneficial in weight increase also. Yoga helps to build up stamina in the individuals and it also increases the appetite of the body. It helps to gain weight with the desired strength by maintaining the overall stature of the human body. The weight gain by yoga is harmonious all around the human body and it does not seem abnormal weight gain. It also provides proper shape to the body.

Undertaking weight gain exercises as a part of yoga is the best treatment for weight gain as it also provides stamina which increases the ability of the human body for taking up more activities. Yoga exercises, which don't involve stretching and straining of the organs of the body help to provide better shape to the body. It also increases hunger like any other physical exercise and hence one can consume food which helps to increase weight as yoga increases the hunger and appetite. It

helps to increase the concentration of the human body and provides perfect harmony between mind and the body. This increase in the concentration helps the individual to take up more physical activities which increases the appetite.

Yoga helps to increase the hunger and appetite and hence perfect diet which helps to increase the weight of the human body should be undertaken along with yoga exercises. Shavasana (dead body pose) asana of yoga helps to increase the weight of the individual as it just involves lying down flat on the ground with easy breathing. This asana though considered to be the easiest with maximum inactivity compared to other yoga exercises is considered to rejuvenate the body so that it can feel more active and inspired to take up more work with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Generally an overweight person has less stamina and hence experiences tiredness easily. Regular practice of Yoga helps build stamina, stimulates appetite and helps in weight gain.

Very slim body gets tired soon and one feels lazy and lethargic and lack of stamina when one is too weak. Hence to have normal body weight it is very important to feel fine within one self and be active to take up a large number of activities in day to day life. Yoga can help provide the desired body stature and stamina.
