There any many health experts who recommend practicing fitness Yoga poses for weight loss, instead of trying out artificial means and methods; they also claim that healthy Yoga poses can be a lot more effective for safe and permanent weight loss, as compared to many other weight reduction methods. The main form of Yoga that is known to help in weight loss is called Vinyasa Yoga, or Flow Yoga. In this form of Yoga, a series of poses need to be performed, which is collectively known as Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation). However, other styles of Yoga that include weight loss Yoga poses are Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga and Bikram Yoga (or Hot Yoga).

Weight loss Yoga sequences

Given below are a few examples of some of the most common weight loss Yoga poses:

Chakra Padasana (Single Leg Rotations)

• Lie down on your back, on a flat surface like the floor or a Yoga mat
• Raise your right leg, so that it is at a 45-degree angle, pointing your toes and your feet away from you
• Rotate your right leg in one direction around 7 or 8 times and then without a break or rest, start rotating the leg in the other direction, for the same number of times
• Put your right leg back and repeat the exercise with your left leg.

Bhujangasana (The Cobra Pose)

• Lie down facing the floor or the Yoga mat and let your head rest on the floor and your arms to rest on either side of your trunk.
• Take a deep breath and left your head as well as your trunk from the floor
• As you raise your trunk, straighten your elbows by pressing your palms against the floor
• Keep you left leg perpendicular to the ground and bend your knee, while you exhale
• With your left arm, grasp your left knee, so that pressure is applied on the right arm
• This position needs to be maintained for several seconds before you lower your body and bring your arms against your body, in a relaxing pose.

Yoga is not just great for weight loss, but for overall weight management. People also practice weight gain Yoga poses, in order to reach their ideal weight goal. However, while these weight loss Yoga poses are relatively safe, if practiced under the supervision of a qualified teacher, it is best to consult a doctor, before practicing any of them.

A kundalini workout will incorporate various repetitive and quick movements performed while breathing in specific ways.

Yoga offers numerous health benefits. It also improves mental health by relieving stress and promoting relaxation. Regular practice of yoga helps to tone the body and improve flexibility and endurance. For those who prefer low impact exercise that is easy to perform and which does not require any special equipment, yoga is the ideal option. Weight loss yoga helps to burn fat by targeting various parts of the body through a series of physical postures and breathing exercises. Achieving the goal of weight loss with yoga has in fact become a widely used strategy that can be quite effective.

Hatha yoga is a more traditional approach to yoga. It refers to regular yoga poses done on a mat. Weight loss can be achieved through regular practice of hatha yoga, although it does take more time. Bikram and hatha yoga both involve a focus on breathing as one performs the various poses. Kundalini yoga is an ancient style of yoga which has recently become popular in the west. It involves a series of poses done in combination with specific breathing techniques that maximizes the benefits of the physical poses. A kundalini workout will incorporate various repetitive and quick movements performed while breathing in specific ways.
A yoga pose that is especially beneficial for the thighs and arms is trikonasana (triangle pose). First stand with your arms by your sides and feet together. Then part the feet to shoulder width, inhale and extend the arms so that they are parallel to the ground with the palms facing down. Exhale and turn your upper body left, bend the waist and stretch your right hand down and place it along the left ankle. Extent the left arm upwards and keep both knees and elbows straight. Then turn your head up towards the fingers of the left hand. Inhale and come back to standing position with the arms outstretched. Hold this pose for a few seconds and exhale. Do keep in mind that weight loss with yoga is only achievable through consistent and dedicated practice.

Losing weight with the help of yoga asana is successful and popular with many people who follow it regularly. Spot weight reduction like losing weight at a particular spot like arms or thighs is only possible and more seen when you lose your overall fat or weight. Listed here are specific asana which will help you to specifically lose weight on your arms and thighs. These include sun salute, butterfly pose, angle pose, triangle pose, hero pose I and II, celibacy pose, dog pose – face up and face down and advanced wind releasing pose.

  • Butterfly pose – sit on a yoga mat or on the floor in sukhasana. Bend both knees and with the help of your hands bring both the soles of the feet together. Place then under the crotch area and hold them with interlaced paws for stability. Keep the spine and neck straight and do not raise your heel. Breathe in. Rest your elbows on thighs and without using any pressure of elbows press both the thighs down. While exhaling raise both the knees upwards and repeat this motion 15-20 times. Keep a proper breathing rhythm while performing this asana.
  • Advanced wind releasing pose – lie straight on a yoga mat on your back with your legs straight. Place both the hands on the sides. Lift your left leg while inhaling bending at the knee towards your chest. With the help of your hands hold it there. Raise your head from the shoulder and try to touch your chin on the knee. Remain in this pose for 15 seconds and then repeat the same pose using right leg. Both the legs can also be lifted together after you complete individual legs 5 times each. A pressure should be maintained on the abdomen using the left/right thigh and knee.
