Natural Treatment for Pulled Muscle

If you have pulled a muscle, your best bet is to rest it completely and totally. Whenever a muscle is injured, no matter how mildly or badly, you should be aware that the best thing you can do for it is to give it adequate rest so that it heals completely. A pulled muscle can be particularly painful, and therefore there are some methods that would help in providing relief from the sometimes excruciating pain. If you have pulled a muscle in an area like your calf or leg, then you can easily get a hot water soak for yourself. This is the most useful device to use in such cases. If possible, add a bit of salt to the hot water and this will help to further ease out your pain. If you have managed to pull your back muscle or a muscle in an area like that, your best bet is to indulge in a hot soak. Salt has a tendency to absorb the pain from the body. You can also add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to your soaking water which will also provide relief from the pain.

You can also make a small pillow stuffed with rice grains and warm this in the microwave. This can be used to rest against your aching body for relief. You can also get a massage with mustard oil. If possible, you should try and get a massage from a professional. Muscles need to be stimulated in a particular way, and a massage administered in the wrong way can be detrimental to an already damaged muscle. After about a week of resting your muscle adequately, you should then try and stimulate it a little. You should begin by trying to flex your muscle slowly and gently. Remember that if you keep it idle and unused for too long a time, then it may take too much time to heal properly. In any and all cases, the most important thing to keep in mind is that muscle pulls need to be totally and completely cured before you start using the muscle adequately again. In particular, this is important if you are an athlete or are indulging in some sort of vigorous sport or exercise. If you start using your muscle before you are fully cured, you may have to pay for it with a recurring lifelong problem. However if your pain does not seem to subside within a week it would be necessary that you visit your local doctor.
