Home Remedies for Oily And Dry Skin Pores

It is quite unlikely that you would have both oily skin and dry pores so the next assumption is that you are suffering a blockage related condition like acne. Acne is a problem that most people go through as they cross the years of puberty and sometimes we experience this as adults as well. The treatment for this condition lies in taking care of your skin and ensuring that there are no blockages caused by bacteria and dead skin cells.

Acne

Skin consists of many layers of cells that are in varying stages of development. At the bottom of the layers are skin cells that are stem cells. This means that as they progress they can form other types of cells like melanocytes, keratinocytes, glands, and other cells. When the cells move further up to a layer called stratum corneum they have already reached the end of their life and there is a final layer where they form a layer that is continuously sloughed off with friction. This dead skin falls off in microscopic quantities as a dust like formation. This usually is harmless but when combined with excessive sebum production, this starts to cause problems. Sebum is a triglyceride and monoester rich mixture that has the consistency of oil and is secreted by the sebaceous glands. When the pores are clear, this oil moves along with the sweat and moisturizes the skin but if there is a blockage, the sebum collects and pools. This becomes a perfect medium for skin bacteria to start an infection and you end up with acne. Therefore, it can be deduced that to reduce acne, you have to remove the dead skin cells.

Home Remedies

This is a simple procedure and all you need to do this is to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation requires an acidic medium like salicylic acid or citric acid. Salicylic acid is the best medium to breakdown dead skin cell protein but in its absence, you can also use freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply this to your face and then wait for a minute. The next step is to apply a frictional force to the now loose skin. This can be done by using sugar or salt. This will abrade the skin and causes the dead skin to come right away much like the process of sandpapering. After this is performed everyday, you need to apply a moisturizer. This will stop excess oil from being secreted as the skin is already saturated with oil and water.
