Home Remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)

Home remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis (BV): I was diagnosed with BV in the past. Now I cannot afford to go to the doctor, because I can't afford it. Are there any home remedies, and if so what.\ THANK YOU

Not having access to a health care professional in the least, in lieu of a gynecologist, for the treatment of BV is a very risky proposition. Unlike ailments like a sore throat or a cold, which if sometimes left to the body’s own devices and proper rest could resolve itself, BV could be aggravated if not cured under observation. The treatment would sound simple enough but since the area in question is the vagina, it is advisable to always let your gynecologist supervise your efforts.

The treatment of BV is a three-pronged approach, which involves abstinence from intercourse or sexual activity during the treatment period, using antibiotics, and restoring the acid and natural bacterial flora. This is the approach that medical professionals use and can be replicated on a small scale at home as well. Abstinence from sexual intercourse is required in this period, not because BV is a sexually transmitted disease, which it is not, but because intercourse could worsen the situation by further tipping the acid balance in favor of the invading bacteria. The next step is to tank up on natural antibiotics. Using some kind of a paste made out of natural antibiotics maybe out of the question because of the amount of pain that would be involved. However, these can be ingested orally as well. The first antibiotic that you can however start using is a cream that contains tea tree oil. This should be available at a pharmacy. Follow the directions carefully when using it. Next, comes the oral antibiotics and these are in the form of ginger, garlic, and the Indian herb, turmeric. These can be added to food preparations and should constitute your daily diet. Get on the net to view some of the recipes available for these. Ginger should be used as an addition to tea, by adding dried ginger flakes to boiling water and tea leaves, three times a day. The general rule is that any food which is spicy, the better it works as an antibiotic.

The final part of any treatment involves reintroducing the correct bacteria into the system. The reason for this is that a healthy vagina contains a certain amount of good bacteria called lactobacillus bacteria. Practically, this can be done using a milk bath. This might be slightly impractical in a modern world so you can either apply milk to the vaginal area a few times a day or apply milk lavishly on a cloth and place it over the vagina for at least fifteen minutes.
