Ardha Chandrasana Benefits

The Ardha chandrasana or the crescent pose is a pose which suits individual of all age.



It is not done by individuals with shoulder and back related problems. It is an energizing pose that increases the flexibility of the spine. It also enhances the blood circulation. Lift your arms till the shoulder level and turn them to face the roof. Lift the arms over your head and inhale.



Join your fingers and interlace. Place the index finger in the upward direction. The upper arms are near your ears and relax your shoulders. Bend forward from the waist and exhale. Gently press the hips towards the left and see to it that you press with both the feet.



Look in front and stay for around thirty seconds. Bring your torso up and inhale.

Ardha chandrasana or half moon pose is better done near a wall. The wall provides support to individuals with a stiff body. Blocks can also be used. The energy from the moon and sun helps in rejuvenating the body. It helps to maintain balance in the body. It increases the concentration levels and helps in coordination. This pose involves a lot of stretching, thereby makes the body more agile and pliable. It provides relief from all kinds of joint problems. Pain related to arthritis decreases due to this posture. It improves the effectiveness of the hamstring and groins. It also relieves stress and thus eliminates many associated problems. It removes the feeling of fatigue and keeps the body healthy and energetic.

Ardha chandrasana improves digestion and reduces the risk of gastro intestinal disturbances. It is also recommended for women, especially during the menstrual cycle. It decreases the pain associated with menstrual period, pelvic discomfort, heavy bleeding and backache. Half moon pose is also helpful during pregnancy. It flexibility to the hip and makes the body more pliable. Thus, child birth is easy. It prepares the individual in a psychological manner, prior to child birth.
