Learning Disabilities

Learning Disabilities are a hidden handicap not like other disabilities that include paralysis or blindness.

Learning Disabilities don’t deface or leave visible signs which make others understand or provide their support. A man once known to have blurted out to a child, "You look so intelligent; you don't look handicapped."

Learning Disabilities constitute a disorder which affects a person’s ability either to interpret what he sees or hears or to relate information from different parts of his mind.

These restrictions can put a person to shame in a number of ways. They might show up as explicit difficulties with spoken and written language.

Or they might show up in lack of coordination, self-control, or attention. Difficulties of this sort go on to schoolwork and can obstruct learning; the ability to read or write, or to do maths.

Learning Disabilities are normally lifetime conditions. In some cases, they are known to affect different aspects of an individual's life. These include such as school, work, daily routines, family life, and oftentimes friendships and play as well. In some folks, a number of overlapping Learning Disabilities could be seen. Others might have a single, isolated learning problem, which has little bearing on other areas of their lives.

Learning Disabilities is not a diagnosis in the way sense as measles or polio. Measles and polio entail a single, known cause with a foreseeable set of symptoms. On the other hand, Learning Disabilities is a broader term. It covers a group of possible symptoms, causes, treatments, and results. Partially owing to the fact that Learning Disabilities can turn up in a number of different forms, it is tough to make a diagnosis or to identify the causes. And medical science has no pill or remedy to cure them.

Yoga views all Learning Disabilities as treatable, over time, given the time and patience. For this there are a set of prescribed practices that help restore the balance within the brain and the rest of the body.
