Different Meditation Techniques
The practice of meditation is a highly therapeutic one. Every individual should spend a small amount of time every day to meditate. It is a practice of inner reflection and mental strength.
Meditation requires an individual to concentrate all his attention on one single focal point, blocking out all other distractions, in a bid to calm and soothe the mind. The human mind is brilliant. It is constantly active. Analyzing and processing many different thoughts at the same time. Therefore it is a cluttered and chaotic place. The more cluttered it is, the less focus you have. It costs you the ability to think clearly, especially in times of stress. Meditation teaches you how to control this clutter, rise about it and keep your mind still. It is the best form of emotional wellbeing.
Meditation helps you relaxation, channel a spirit of positivity and find your inner peace. There are several levels and techniques of meditation, from simple uncomplicated techniques to more complex ones undertaken to awaken the spiritual pane. Some of these like Vipassana Meditation, Transcendental Meditation, Chakra Meditation, etc. are explained further:
Breathing Meditation – Breathing is a link that connects the conscious and the subconscious, making it an ideal tool for better meditation. Breathing meditation technique helps you gain focus and control over your mind through breathing. As you breathe slowly and deeply, it slows down mind chatter. This helps you focus and find inner peace.
Transcendental Meditation – is a meditation technique that was developed in the late 1950’s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. In Transcendental Meditation, focus is achieved by repeating a word (or phrase) known as a mantra. While reciting this mantra, the mind slowly clears of all the clutter and noise, and with practice empties of all thought and enters a state of peace. During this phase the body relaxes and the mind rises to a state of awareness. This state is referred to as transcendental.
Vipassana Meditation – Vipassana Meditation technique is also known as insight meditation. It allows the practitioner to see things clearly, clearing past the clutter and chaos, to see the exact truth. It is a process of self observation, a discovery of self. You understand your own positive and negative traits and set to improve and correct these elements consciously.
Chakra Meditation – Chakra means wheel. It is a term used to describe the major nerves that are connected to the spine. These nerves join vital body organs, and support their optimal functioning. There are a total of seven chakras in the body. This meditation technique allows an individual to awaken these energy wheels and balance and channel them.
