Health and Yoga

Health and Yoga are closely interrelated.

Yoga is a popular tool for improving both physical and mental health, which is the fundamental common goal of all those who practice Yoga – for reasons of health. They either wish to ease back aches and pains, find techniques and methods to ease stress, or discover ways to deal with other health problems. This section looks closely at how the body and mind function and how Yoga practice benefits us physically and mentally.

Yoga aims at uniting the body, mind, and spirit because, in the view of ancient Yogis, the body and mind are actually one.

They believe that, given the right tools and led to the right settings, one can find harmony and heal oneself. For this reason, Yoga is considered therapeutic – it helps make you more aware of body's posture, alignment and patterns of movement. Besides, it renders the body suppler and helps us relax even in stress situations. This is one of the leading reasons for people wishing to start practicing Yoga.

They want to be fit, full of life, happier and more peaceful.

As an art and a science Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years and consists of theories, observations and principles about the mind and body connection. This is now being proved, daily, by modern science. Considerable research is being done to prove at the Health Benefits of Yoga – from the Yoga Asanas (Postures), Yoga Pranayama (Breathing Exercises), and Yoga Dhyana (Meditation). The collected data is all classified and categorized in 3 categories – physiological, psychological, and spiritual. Scientists have, further, placed these results alongside the benefits of regular exercise.

Through Yoga, particularly the practise of meditation, people are able to look deeper into themselves, listen to their inner voice, and develop a more positive view on life. This helps enhance our relations with others. Stress, hormonal changes, and self-development are among the many reasons why women ought to remain healthy. A woman's ability to tackle stress – physical mental or emotional –depends entirely upon her health.

Hormonal changes that come with menstruation, pregnancy and menopause, can make women suffer from a host of problems. These include premenstrual syndrome, menstrual cramps, headaches, and other problems. Women also have to remain healthy to be able to run the household, to cope with pregnancy and menopause that can be rather trying times, not to mention the pressure they have been under to look good for centuries. As a matter of fact, a large number of women would do almost anything to be thinner.

Only Yoga, that ancient science of health – physical, mental and spiritual - helps people cope with health issues and develop a relaxed state of their body and mind. Only Yoga can wholly help alleviate the pain that goes with managing stress menstruation and pregnancy and ensure an easier delivery among other benefits. Yogasanas and Yoga breathing exercises, together with a Yoga diet, are also designed to tone and exercise the muscles of the body to eliminate excess fat, and make the practitioner stronger and suppler.
