Blanchard Mark Power Yoga

Mark Blanchard's life of an athlete is one of his significant roles in life.

He was instructed to take up Yoga as a result of the many knee operations he has had to undergo, following accidents on the baseball and football grounds. Mark has continued to Yoga practice daily ever since. Finally, he studied with India's Sri K.

Pattabhi Jois. Pattabhi, by the way, is known as the father of the modern Ashtanga movement. After doing serious Yoga studies and practices under him for 20 years, Mark started to teach full-time in 1993.

Mark has coached a number of celebrities including.

These include Jennifer Lopez, Kim Delaney, Rachel Griffiths, Willem Dafoe, Jennie Garth, Andy Garcia, James Wilder, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore. Mark also specializes in coaching athletes such as golfers, basketball players and such professionals as he clearly understands Yoga's healing powers.

He says: "The internal practice improves mental focus, clarity and split-second concentration while the outward physical practice hones strength, speed-work and reaction-time." he says. Mark is a leader of the Power Yoga movement. He has a Studio City location in Southern California with ten others planned around the US. They are called Mark Blanchard's Power Yoga Centers and are thriving. Mark says "Students tell us how they appreciate the family atmosphere and friendly greetings when they enter. There's no attitude in our studios. We come only to practice and to feel calm and in balance with the world around us."

Some of the nest and chief characteristics of Mark's classicist Yoga class are that he never classifies sessions. He only caters to the music of the human breath and never recommends class props like blocks or straps.

"Regardless of how trendy these accoutrements have become, there were no stereos or straps when Yoga was created over 5,000 years ago," says Mark. "Simply work at our own level, do the best you can personally do, and welcome the joy from within.”
