DAHN Yoga
Yoga is an ancient spiritual, mental and physical discipline that enjoys a vast following to this day. Whether its hatha yoga you practice or the nearest dahn yoga center you frequent, yoga has become the most relaxing, spiritually uplifting, and mentally stimulating techniques for almost all health conscious individuals. Apart from the traditional yoga disciplines there are a number of more modern groups like the dahn yoga. The mention of yoga normally awakens thoughts of meditation, complex postures, flexibility and fitness, and lots more. Although these are all traits characteristic and typical of yoga, the modern disciplines are more focused or goal oriented. Some may focus on particular asanas or postures for weight loss, while others concentrate on breath control or a higher state of awareness. While focusing on such specific areas may seem to narrow down and negate the very broad scope of yoga, the fact is that all of these disciplines follow very similar practices, with minor variations, and most of the practices they incorporate, promote all round improvement. Dahn yoga is no exception and is in fact one of the fastest growing disciplines, with a dahn yoga center springing up in every second town. Dahn yoga centers emerged during the 80s in Seoul, Korea. Its origins however were much older. The discipline remerged after centuries and by the 90s it had also started growing in popularity in the United States. Dahn yoga began as an old form of Korean instruction aimed at imparting knowledge to practitioners on the principles behind the movement and action of energy within the body. Dahn yoga aims to provide holistic healing through meditation, breath techniques and deep stretching postures. The practitioner is given training and guidance to take control over the body through mastery over communication. If practiced efficiently it can be a great method for strengthening and enhancing your spiritual connection. The importance of elimination of stress is strongly stressed for any healing benefits to be enjoyed and to prevent any deterioration. Aside from physical relaxation, dahn yoga leads you towards the awakening and discovery of your inner self. Dahn Yoga CultOur inherently suspicious natures often lead us to mistrust and suspect the intentions and objectives of groups that seem secretive or whose intentions and practices we don’t fully comprehend. Many time yoga institutes have come under suspicion and are dubbed by critics as cults. While these accusations are at times valid they are often baseless and malevolent. The best way for you to find out if a yoga discipline is suited for you, is by learning more about the practices, or enrolling in an institute. So long as you have a questioning mind that is aware and alert you should have nothing to worry about. Moreover, the hierarchical structure of some of these organizations may seem troubling and almost cult like to our western minds, this hierarchy is normal and unthreatening in the east. |
