yoga for insomnia
relaxation which in turn helps you to sleep. Studies have shown that practicing yoga for insomnia helps to relieve stress and
therefore allows you to get a good night’s sleep. Yoga for insomnia has a stimulatory effect on the brain and the entire nervous system. Yoga also helps to promote better blood circulation to the brain. This helps to normalize the sleep cycle. Practicing certain yoga poses regularly will help you to reduce
stress and balance your body’s system. All this will ensure a good sleep. It is important to remember that exercising regularly will also help you to sleep better at night. Power yoga or Ashtanga yoga are the more vigorous forms of yoga and if done thrice a week should give you good results. Avoid doing
vigorous yoga for insomnia just before you go to bed. This kind of vigorous yoga is not recommended as it stimulates the body and raises the heart rate. Such a condition would not be conducive to sleep. Vigorous yoga exercises, done during the day leads to relaxed and looser muscles at night. This results
in drowsiness at the end of the day.

• Supta Baddha Konasana (The Goddess Pose)
• Virabhadrasana (The Warrior I Pose)
• Virabhadrasana II (The Warrior II Pose)
Other yoga poses that have a calming effect on your system include:-
• Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose)
