yoga and swimming
Some of the most important qualities of a good swimmer are ease, agility and grace. Good swimmers often move in a smooth, balanced and fluid manner. They manage to make even the most strenuous swimming strokes appear easy and effortless. However, this ease is a quality that they have probably developed over a period of time, after a lot of steady practice. They constantly work at coordinating their breath as well as their muscle and body movements, so that they focus energy at the right place and time, instead of wasting it. This coordination can be the result of practicing yoga and swimming on a daily basis. In fact, Yoga and swimming can be closely related in more ways than one.
Breathing correctly is absolutely essential at all times. Yoga can teach you to breathe in a certain way, while performing a particularly difficult pose, so that you get a better flow of oxygen, which strengthens your muscles. This will help you to pick a breathing pattern when you are swimming. This will in turn allow you to hold your swimming stroke for longer. Yoga has also been known to improve a person’s balance, not just on land, but also water. Yoga consists of several exercises and postures that need you to maintain your balance. Practicing these exercises on a regular basis can also improve your balance, when you are swimming, enabling you to move at the same speed, but with less effort.
Yoga and swimming are both great forms of working out. They can be very relaxing and at the same time, they can improve your strength, flexibility and body shape. Yoga could help you improve your swimming technique, if added to your regular workout regimen.
