Yoga Good For Improving Immune System And For Motivation

Yoga Exercises To Keep Motivated And Strengthen The Immune System

Yoga can strengthen the immune system and help you combat a multitude of health problems related to a weak immune system.

  • If you suffer from excessive allergies, it’s an indication that your immune system is working too hard. Sore throat, sinus, runny nose, inflammation and breathing problems are often causes when the foreign bodies that enter our system are attacked by the mucus-producing process of the immune system. But if you do certain yoga postures, meditate and practice pranayama (breathing exercise), the immune system can be relaxed and can be prevented from working overtime. This will diminish all the mentioned symptoms.
  • Experts recommend practicing yoga postures regularly in a relaxed way and by breathing deeply and slowly to relax the nervous system and combat allergies. Kapalabhati (Cleaning Breath) way of breathing expels mucus from the system.
  • It’s important to relax after you’ve completed your yoga workout as this relaxation will help to combat allergies and symptoms. Relaxation helps the immune system to fight the bacteria in the body.
  • You also need to focus on your thymus gland to build up your immune system. It is situated in the chest and is the center of the immune system. So if you do yoga postures that open out the chest and include breath work, then these will be beneficial for the thymus gland and your immune system. You should try the Bridge pose, the Bow pose, the Cobra pose, the Fish pose and the Boat pose to focus on your thymus gland. Combine these postures with ujjayi or kapalabhati breathing techniques for further benefit.
  • Yoga postures also improve circulation, increases the oxygen intake and relaxes the nervous system – all these help to strengthen the immune system.
  • Inversions like headstand, shoulder stand and plough position are recommended for improving the flow of the immune cells and lymph throughout the body. The lymph circulates water, oxygen and food to the cells in the body. These also flush out water products from the body.
  • Hip openers like the seated angle, bound angle and pigeon posture, and certain twisted postures energize the spleen, which plays an important part in flushing out toxins.
  • Yoga postures and breathing techniques also reduce stress, which in turn helps to strengthen the immune system and prevent illnesses.

While yoga is great for improving the immune system, it is also good for motivation. Whether you do laughter yoga or other postures, yoga can trigger off the endorphins in your body, which will rejuvenate you and make you feel good about yourself. Yoga postures, meditation and pranayama are good for the body as well as for the mind!
