Some Yoga Positions For The Beginners

If you are a beginner and are new to yoga, then the names and movements of postures can be overwhelming initially. But as you attend classes and become more familiar with yoga, the names of the postures and the movements will all become familiar. Well, here are the names of some of the yoga postures:

Balasana Or The Child’s Pose: This is a resting pose and can help you relax.

Bhujnagasana Or The Cobra Pose:
This is a basic back bending exercise.

Shavasana Or The Corpse pose: This is a resting and cooling-off pose, done at the end of every yoga session.

Adho Mukha Svanasana or Downward Facing Dog pose:
This is a resting posture as well as a strengthener.

Surya Namaskar Or The Sun Salutation: A series of movements and postures, this is good for stretching and strengthening.

Tadasana Or The Mountain Pose:
This is a basic pose and a foundation to standing postures.

Urdhva Hastasana Or The Raised Hands Pose:
This a standing pose where you have to raise your arms and stretch them.

Paschimottanasana Or The Seated Forward Bend:
This a forward bend where the legs are outstretched.

Dandasana OrTthe Stick pose: This a basic pose and several other yoga postures have originated from this very pose.

Uttanasana Or The Standing Forward Bend:
In this posture, you have to reach for your toes.

Yoga Basics For Beginners: While, we’ve listed some of the basic yoga postures, here is a generic group of postures that are part of yoga:

Warm Up session: A yoga session like any other exercise session begins with certain warming up postures. Some of the moves are simple and basic, while other postures like the Sun Salutation, is good for getting into the rhythm of the practice.

Standing Postures: There are several asanas that include standing poses. These align the body, improve body balance and help to aid the blood circulation and digestion.

Sitting Postures: These postures tone up the legs, make the spine more supple and improve one’s breath work.

Twists: These postures are good for the shoulders. Twists also do a world of good to backaches and can increase one’s flexibility.

Supine Poses: These postures are good for relieving stress.

Balancing Postures: They increase body balance, stamina, strength and concentration.

BackBends: These postures are good for the back and shoulders.

Cooling Down Postures: The yoga session is wrapped up by doing cooling down postures.
