Best yoga exercises for men’s health
Since men tend to be more into sports and other physical activities, practicing Yogasanas (poses) tends to offset any physical irregularities which may arise from such endeavors. For instance, in sports such as tennis or golf, you have a tendency to use some muscles more than their respective symmetrical counterparts (such as the right and left arms and legs.) Yogasanas (poses) help loosen the tightness from the muscles, thus bringing the body back into its natural alignment.
The best Yoga exercises for men are:
- Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation)
- Spot jogging
- Arm and finger flexing and rotations
- Leg, knee and toe flexing and rotations
- Neck rotations
- Waist rotations
- Shoulder exercises
- Eye exercises

However, for better health you would do well to incorporate certain other Yogic practices into your life as well, such as Pranayamas (breathing exercises), Kriyas (cleansing techniques) and a Sattvic (pure, light and predominantly vegetarian) diet.
The suggested Pranayamas (breathing exercises) are:
- Kapalabhatti (Skull Cleansing)
- Anuloma-Viloma (Alternate Nostril Breathing)
- Ujjayi (Ocean Breath) and
- Brahmari (Bee Breath)
The suggested Kriyas (cleansing techniques) are:
- Vaman Dhauti (Abdominal douche with saline water)
- Jala Neti (Cleansing the nasal passages with saline water)
- Sutra Neti (Cleansing the nasal passages with a rubber catheter)
Yoga Diet
Consider your Yoga program, whatever form or style you may take up, incomplete, without a proper Yoga diet. This means that your diet should be Sattvic (pure, light and predominantly vegetarian) and include liberal portions of fresh fruit and salads, freshly cooked vegetables, preferably green, leafy vegetables, sprouts, whole grain wheat and brown rice. Avoid non-veg fare, deep fried, stale, spicy, fast / junk foods tobacco, alcohol. Put together, this is probably the best Yoga package and if you practice it all together, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be healthy, happy and disease free for the most part of your life.
