Meditation is a therapeutic mental discipline. This is a practice of concentrating one’s attention on a single focal point in an effort to attain stillness of mind. It is known to strengthen and maintain mental and emotional wellbeing. Regular practice of meditation will induce deep relaxation and a feeling of positivity and peace. There are several branches of meditation and Transcendental Meditation is one such form.
Transcendental Meditation is meditation technique that was developed in the late 1950’s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. While it is derived from much older Vedic traditions, Transcendental Meditation follows a much simpler technique as compared to other forms of meditation. The most difficult aspect of meditation is the requirement of the mind to concentrate and contemplate. Transcendental Meditation is known distinctly for the absence of any such effort on part of the practitioner. Instead, focus is achieved by repeating a word (or phrase) known as a mantra. While reciting this mantra, the mind slowly clears of all the clutter and noise, and with practice empties of all thought and enters a state of peace. During this phase the body relaxes and the mind rises to a state of awareness. This state is referred to as transcendental.
Transcendental Meditation is a simple way to calm and rest the mind; it is essentially a state of rested alertness. Through this practice you can experience a deep mental and physical relaxation. In this state the body gains from a process of self healing and the mind gains from the process of self awareness.
This deep state of relaxation gives the mind and body the time to relax and detach from every day stress and clutter. It sets the body on a path of self healing, effectively fighting off stress and related ailments; the most common cause of illness. By practicing Transcendental Meditation you can flush out the stress and tension and replace them with a burst of energy and clarity. The deep breathing techniques involved in the practice ensure the body gets all the oxygen it needs; this in turn boosts circulation and immunity.
By pursuing Transcendental Meditation you will unlock your true potential. Gone will be the anxiety and nervousness, instead you will notice an increased sense of clarity and creativity. In addition, regular practice will have a positive impact on concentration and memory. In short you are completely rested and more efficient!
Anyone can practice Transcendental Meditation; you don’t have to follow a particular belief system or a specified lifestyle. All you need is the discipline to practice every day. Just remember to practices twice a day with each session lasting for twenty minutes.
