What is Squat pose?
The Squat pose helps to ease any kinks in the lower back. This is a pose not only centers your mind but is also beneficial for the internal organs and hips. It is also considered to be an ideal posture for relaxing your body. With regular practice, this posture helps you to improve your balance.
How to perform the Squat pose. Follow the step-by-step instructions given below to perform the squat pose in a proper manner.
- Start off in the Mountain pose (Tada Asana).
- Place your feet so that they are a little more than hip width apart. Ensure that your toes are pointing forward.
- Join your hands in the prayer position.
- Inhale and slowly lower your body, starting from the hips, all the way down until you feel the stretch in your thighs. Keep in mind that unlike traditional squats, the Yoga squat pose actually requires your thighs to be lower than your knees instead of parallel to the floor.
- Ensure that your back and held are held straight. Feel the muscles in your inner thighs and groin opening up. Press your palms together and feel the stretch in the center of your chest. Hold this stretch and feel your shoulders and your neck relax.
- Hold this pose for a 30 seconds to a minute, depending upon you capacity. Make sure that your lower back stays comfortable.
- While exhaling, gently return to the starting posture by straightening your legs and slowly rolling the spine upwards.
