Learning Basic yoga positions
Yoga is one of the best methods of keeping fit and healthy. This fitness regime, which dates back to thousands of years, is becoming increasingly popular all over the world due to the many health benefits that it provides.
There are, however, still many misconceptions about yoga that stop many newcomers from joining a yoga class. The most common misconception is that yoga is a gentle form of exercise that is designed only for women and old men. Yes, yoga is gently, but as far as its health benefits go, it has a wider impact on health that any other form of exercise. Yoga can provide you with a variety of benefits, regardless of whether you are a 12 year old child, a 30 year old man, or in your sixties.
The second most common misconception about yoga is that yoga postures are extremely complicated. While it is true that some of the advanced yoga postures may seem complicated to novices, there are two facts that cannot be denied. Firstly, basic yoga positions are not complicated at all; in fact many of these potions are also used in other forms of exercise. Secondly, once you have mastered the basic positions under the tutelage of a trained instructor, you will come to realize that the advanced positions are really not as hard as they seem.
If you’re still not convinced, taking a look at some of the basic yoga positions should help to change your mind.
Shava Asana. The Shava Asana or Corpse pose, may have a scary sounding name, but it is one of the simplest and most effective Asanas. So how do you perform the Shava Asana? Lie on your back on a yoga mat with your feet straight and your arms at your sides. Close your eyes and allow your entire body to relax. This is the Shava Asana. The Shava Asana is the basic yoga position for most supine exercises.
Sukha Asana. The Sukha Asana or Easy pose is one of the basic poses for seated yoga exercises .It is a simpler version of the Padma Asana (Lotus pose). To perform this Asana you have to sit down cross-legged on the floor or a yoga mat. Keep your back straight and rest your hands on your knees with your palms facing upwards.
Tada Asana. The Tada Asana or Mountain pose, is the most basic yoga standing pose. Stand straight, as if at attention. Keep your body straight, yet at the same time do not clench your muscles. This is the Tada Asana.
