Walking half marathon
In the past, marathons referred to races that were run on the road; however, walkers have also now become an integral part of marathons. Half marathons are road running events of around 13.1 miles or 21,097.5 meters. As the name suggests, a half marathon is an event that usually takes place on the roads and is half the distance of a regular marathon. Half marathons have become quite popular in the last few years, as the levels of participation in such events have increased considerably. People probably prefer running half marathons or even walking half marathons because the distance is considerably less challenging and the level of training that is required is not the same, as a full marathon and most individual who are fit and are in the habit of exercising regularly, can walk the distance on 13.1 miles. However in case you are planning to participate in half a marathon, it is best to undergo half marathon walking training at least 12 weeks before the event.
