Walking is a good exercise for people of any age group. Because walking is a fairly gentle and low impact form of exercise, people often wonder about its effectiveness, particularly those who are not horribly unfit or looking to get in shape fast. That may be why several fitness gurus are often asked the question – “Is walking a good form of exercise?” The answer to that question is that “Yes”. Even though walking is a low impact exercise, it is one of the best ways to work out, as it can help lower your cholesterol levels, burn calories, reduce stress, stimulate blood circulation and can fight off several diseases. Moreover, walking can help you ease onto a higher level of fitness as well as a healthier lifestyle.

Walking is good exercise, because of several factors. It is relatively safe and simple and at the same time, it does not require any special equipment, practice, skills or environment. Diseases like diabetes, strokes, blood pressure and heart diseases can be avoided by a walking regularly. Walking is a good workout and a great way of reducing stress and fighting depression, as it releases a type of a hormone, known as endorphins. These hormones are believed to be natural antidepressants as well as pain killers.

Walking is a good exercise because like any other good exercise it is not restrictive or narrow in its approach, but improves your overall health. Brisk or fast walking is good cardio exercise too, as it improves the circulation of blood and oxygen throughout the body. A cardio exercise mainly raises the rate of your heart beat and keeps it elevated for some time. Cardio exercises are an essential part of any good workout routine, because of the following benefits:
