A number of people are faced with increasing problems of back pain. The reasons for getting them are many and include a lot of stress, physical movement which in turn strains the back and so on. Also, more and more people are doing desk jobs wherein they are required to sit in one place for hours together and therefore, a lack of movement and an incorrect sitting position are other causes that are attributed to pain in the back. Back pain could be constant or can be felt from time to time normally after a lot of exertion. The intensity of the pain also varies and can be very dull or severe. Walking and back pain go together as walking is one of the best ways to get rid of back pain and is thus, highly recommended. This is primarily because walking enables a proper flow of blood to the back and painful area which in turn aid to reduce inflammation and throw out toxins that are responsible for the pain in the first place. Secondly, it produces the feel good hormones in the brain that help you feel better and walking helps to reduce stress to a great extent. Stress, is often one of the main reasons for a back pain and thus, results in an increase in muscle tension.
Walking for back pain on a daily basis helps your muscles to get toned because of which there are lesser chances of you getting frequent muscle spasms. Do not overexert yourself with walking as that can lead to further problems. You need to walk at a pace that is comfortable for you and as far as possible, try to walk on an even ground. Walking on hills and surfaces that are uneven may lead you to walk in an incorrect posture and also result in twisting your leg which will ultimately cause strain on your back in your attempt to balance. The kind of shoes that you wear for walking are also important and thus, you must ensure you wear shoes that are comfortable. Maintaining a correct posture while walking is also important particularly, if you have low back pain. You should not lean in front or behind while walking and should keep your head straight and eyes in front. However, if there is an increase in your back pain which is not going despite a long time, consult a doctor as it could be a serious problem.
