Treadmill Calories Burned

The treadmill is one of the most popular home exercise machines which is favored even by people who hate exercising mostly because one can go for a jog on the treadmill or enjoy an invigorating walk without really leaving the comfort of one’s home or even gym. When walking on a treadmill the calories burned by an individual depend on the speed of the person and the time for which the person is walking or jogging on the treadmill. When using a treadmill the calories burned also depend on the weight of the individual and even gender because it has been observed that men tend to walk or jog faster than women thereby resulting in more calories being burned. Those who take up a weight loss program that involves the treadmill may start their exercise program at a low pace or a slow walk speed and then gradually increase their seed as their endurance levels and stamina increases. One may also use the treadmill to monitor the distance covered and to calculate ones average walking or jogging pace. If jogging or walking at a normal pace the number of calories burned from a treadmill workout would average 9. Hence if the individual exercises for an hour on the treadmill then they can burn almost 540 calories. To burn more calories while walking on the treadmill or even an elliptical machine, one needs to simply increase ones intensity against the time spent. The main parts of the body that tend to benefit from the treadmill workout are the lungs, legs and heart. In fact walking or jogging on the treadmill is an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise which results in the increase in ones heart rate thereby resulting in more calories being burned. One needs to keep in mind that most people don’t start burning calories until about almost 30 minutes into their workout, hence most personal trainers will recommend those who are using a treadmill to lose weight by burning calories to at least use the treadmill for 45 minutes to almost an hour. One of the benefits of using a treadmill to burn calories and lose weight is that it allows the individual to customize their exercise regimen and increase or decrease the intensity level. Another way to burn calories via a treadmill workout is to follow the treadmill hill workout. One can also increase the difficulty level of a treadmill workout by adding weights to the workout resulting in treadmill strength training which in turn will allow one to burn more calories on the treadmill.
