Is Walking A Good Form of Exercise

Walking is a good exercise for people of all ages to perform since it isn’t as intense compared to the other forms of exercise like running and lifting weights. You may not need to consult your doctor before starting a walking program. However, if you suffer from a heart condition or other serious illnesses, it is advisable to do so. Walking is a good exercise as it is easy on the joints and the risk of injury is reduced. Before you begin walking, it is important that you have a good pair of shoes. It is best to go in for a pair of specially designed walking shoes. The shoes should provide sufficient cushioning for your feet. Running shoes are also a good option. If the terrain of your walking route tends to be rough, cross training shoes would work well.

Walking Good Cardio Exercise And Workout

Before you start your walking workouts, you must perform some warm-up and stretching exercises. This will loosen up your joints and enable your muscles and tendons to stretch more easily. Walking is a good workout for your calves and quads. It also helps improve the blood circulation to your legs and arms. The vessels that provide blood for the respiration of cells are improved in efficiency and size. Walking is a good cardio exercise as it increases the heart rate and allows more blood to be transported to the muscles from the lungs. The lungs and heart work more efficiently with a regular walking program, reducing the blood pressure and the rate of the heart at rest.

Jogging Good Exercise

Walking is good for weight loss as the body requires the exercises to be less intense for fat to be burned. The walking workouts tend to progress consistently and steadily, which facilitates fat to be burned more effectively. Other intense forms of exercise that are performed with sudden bursts of energy make use of carbohydrates as a fuel. For the body to burn fat, the exercises should be performed at a lesser intensity for longer periods. Walking is a good exercise to help reduce cholesterol levels. A walk at a brisk pace can burn around 100 calories for each mile or 3oo calories in an hour, depending on your weight and the duration of your workout. Jogging is a good exercise if you want to increase the intensity of your workouts.  You should also focus on eating the right foods that will enhance the effects of your walking workouts.
