Therefore, eating fast food or junk food has become a regular part of our lives. However, more people are becoming aware of the importance of working out regularly and the several health benefits that are associated with it. One of the biggest advantages of exercising is that it can melt away the fat and burn calories, thereby helping you to lose weight. Some of the most common or preferred forms of exercise are walking, dancing, running, aerobics, jogging lifting weights and swimming, to name a few. Walking is probably the most convenient method of weight loss and the calories burned from walking just one mile can  help significantly.

In order to lose one pound, you need to burn 3500 calories. This means that if you want to lose one pound in a week, everyday, you will need to burn at least 500 calories more than your caloric consumption for that day. While there are several factors that influence the number for calories you burn during each activity, you can maximize the effectiveness of your exercise routine and be more successful in your weight loss endeavor, by keeping a track of the number of calories you burn, while performing different forms of exercise.

  • Calories burned walking one mile: The calories burned walking one mile depends on factors like your body weight, your metabolism, the effort that you put in, as well as your speed. For example, if you weight 150 pounds, you could burn between 70 to 80 calories walking a mile. However, this number may be higher, in case more effort was put while walking (for example walking with weights, walking uphill and so on).
  • Calories burned jumping rope: Skipping or jumping rope is a great form of exercise, which is an excellent calorie burner too. In case you weigh 150 pounds, the calories burned from jumping a rope for just 15 minutes could add up to as much as 170 calories.
  • Calories burned running a mile: In order to calculate the calories burned from running a mile, factors, like weight and speed need to be considered. A person weighing 150 pounds generally burns around 100 calories running.
  • Calories burned jogging one mile: Just like walking and running, it is difficult to assess exactly how many calories burned from jogging one mile, without considering your weight and speed. However, at 150 pounds, the calories burned from jogging one mile should be around 65 calories.
  • Calories burned swimming one mile: The number of calories burned from swimming one mile is largely affected by your swimming speed. Assuming that your body weight is 150 pounds, you could burn anywhere between 300 and 450 calories, swimming one mile, depending on how you swim.
