Boots For Walking

If you are a walking fanatic, neither the outdoor conditions nor the time of year is likely to stop you.

Boots for walking

When you think about gear for walking, your first investment is likely to be a pair of boots. Before you purchase your boots for walking, you may want to consider the kind of ‘walking’ you are likely to indulge in. Shops store all kinds of boots for walking: boots for walking indoors (treadmill), boots for walking outdoors, hiking boots, trekking boots, trailing boots, and so on.
Boots are usually constructed to provide comfort for your feet, if you are walking miles over rough terrain. Typical boots for exercise purposes will fit higher over the ankle to support it and avoid twisting. Also, check for wide fitting boots. These provide a wider toe box area and sides for larger feet.
While boots for walking outdoor tend to be sturdier, if you are only going to walk short distances, these may not be the best idea. Many people find that boots restrict their walking movement and are hard on their feet.
Originally, boots for walking were heavy set and made in leather. Many people found them uncomfortable. Fortunately, you have a wide variety of boots made of lightweight fabrics. Some of these even come with leather patches in areas to avoid friction and blisters. Fabric-and-leather boots are lighter and easier to break in, but all-leather boots offer added protection and durability in rigorous terrain, as well as being water resistant and breathable. Many of the boots for walking outdoors are made with Gore-Tex lining that keeps water out while allowing perspiration to escape.
When you are considering boots for walking, you may want to buy one according to the terrain your feet will endure. When you walk on a hard surface, it pounds on the foot sending shock waves through ankles, knees, hips, back and neck. This can cause pain and injuries.
Look for boots with a shock absorbing insole. Also look for features such as multi grip, anti skid, better traction, and waterproofing.

Other essential gear for Walking

Socks: A big essential on the list of gear for walking is socks. When trying on boots, wear the socks you plan to go with them. Try polyester liner socks that wick away moisture and wool or synthetic socks for cushioning. Avoid cotton, which absorbs water and perspiration and holds it next to your skin. If you are walking with wet feet and the temperature drops below freezing, you risk suffering from frostbite. A good sock and boots combination reduces that possibility.
Coats for walking: Multiple layers of clothing keep you warm in winter and from overheating in summer. Depending on the weather conditions, you may want to get yourself wind-resistant and/or water resistant coats for walking. How many layers you need depends on your level of exertion, preference, and outdoor weather conditions. Coats for walking are now available in differing styles suitable for different seasons. Look for inner layers with moisture wicking material.
Hat: You can invest in a hat consisting of a lightweight polypropylene liner and a nylon shell to adjust to changing winter temperatures.
