Stretching is defined as a type of exercise that attempts to stretch a particular muscle to make it more flexible. Stretching for exercise is also necessary to avoid the occurrence of any injuries. Exercise and stretching go hand in hand as stretching is extremely essential before you begin any sort of exercise.
There are a number of warm up and stretching exercises that one can perform before their workout and one of them includes standing straight and bending over in order to touch the toes. There are a few techniques that you need to follow for best stretching and one of these include to breathe in a normal way and not hold your breath at any point during stretching. One of the best stretching techniques is to do the movements very slowly and gently. One of the best stretches is the standing quadriceps stretch. In this stretch you would need to bend your knee backwards while standing and hold the top of the same foot and bring it closer to your buttocks as your knees point to the ground.
One of the best stretching exercises for the chest and shoulder involves clasping your hands together when you take them behind your back and lifting them upwards. You should lift them only till where you feel comfortable and this stretch can be done while sitting or standing. The best stretch for your upper back is holding your hands in front of you and bending your back forward as you take your arms away from the body. Another best stretching routine for the chest involves an exercise for which you need to be standing in a doorway and take your right forearm placing it on the side of the doorway at the level of your chest while your elbow is at a 90 degree angle. While you are in this position, turn your body slowly to the left and then change side by using the other hand. One of the best stretch exercises for your body is the side stretch for which you stretch your hands on top and clasp them in such a way that your palms are facing to the ceiling. Then gradually bend to your left side till you feel a stretch on the right side and then do it on the other side. However, do not overexert yourself with these stretch and tone exercises if you are experiencing pain in any part of the body.
