Running And Aging

Recent studies and research have shown that running and aging are correlated as individuals who run on a regular basis tend to suffer from lesser disabilities, have a decrease in their death risk by 50 percent, enjoyed a longer life span and also tend to delay the onset of aging and aging related disability by almost 16 years. Running is known to have anti-aging benefits and in fact tends to turn back the clock in individuals by improving the immune system, heart, emotional well-being and brain which in turn slows down the aging process. A strong heart is beneficial in reducing and resting blood pressure which in turn add less strain on the various blood vessels in the brain and the body. Running is also known to release the growth factors which encourage the growth of new cells which then build extra routes for circulation thereby protecting the heart from any blockages. Running is also beneficial against aging as it strengthens the immune response by the production of antibodies and T-cells which are required to fight of infections and cancer. Aging related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia are best prevented by having a strong brain which is acquired by running. Running creates new neurons and even strengthens the connections between the brain cells. It has been observed that a moving body tends to increase neurogenesis and neuroplasticity which otherwise trends to diminish with age. Similarly running and cellulite are also correlated as one of the best exercises for reduction of cellulite which is fat that tends to stubbornly cling to the buttocks and thighs of women, is cardiovascular exercise. Doctors have observed that a combination of running, condition, strength and isometric exercises tend to gradually reduce the cellulite in the body. Running or any other form of cardiovascular exercise for cellulite should be for at least 30 minutes because this will increase the metabolism of the individual and also increase the circulation thereby facilitating the expulsion of toxins and reduction in the appearance of cellulite. Muscular training and exercises like lunges and squats are considered to be one of the best exercises for the reduction of cellulite along with running. Running and acne are also observed to go hand in hand especially acne on the chest, back and upper arms which is found mostly in women on account of clogging of the pores with sweat and also friction from rubbing clothes while running. Additionally those who wear sunscreen or makeup while running are more prone to acne.
